Eucharistic Adoration With transforming mercy, Jesus makes our hearts one with His. Jesus stays in the Holy Eucharist so “He is kept alive. He restores morality, nourishes virtues, consoles the afflicted, strengthens the weak. He proposes His own example to those who come to Him that all may learn to be, like Himself, meek and humble of heart and to seek not their own interest, but those of God.” Eucharistic Adoration is scheduled each Friday from noon to 8 p.m. A sign-up sheet is at the chapel door for your convenience. Please call Jackie at 917-0458 if you can spend an hour in the chapel with Jesus.
Blood Drive A big thank you to all the folks that gave blood at our recent drive on Oct. 22. Our goal was 56 units and we collected 58 pints of blood. That means 174 people will be helped with your blood donations.
Our Thanks To Patty and Paul Skinkus who led a group of parishioners on a tour of wine country last weekend. It was a beautiful day, a great tour, and everyone learned lots! We may schedule another tour for this summer. Watch the bulletin if you want to be part of this. What’s a Communion Service? Sometimes a priest is not available to celebrate Mass, but folks still want to gather to pray. A Communion Service is really a liturgy of the Word (the part of the Mass with the readings). The Liturgy of the Eucharist from the preface through the great Amen is omitted since there is no priest to do the consecration. It resumes again with the Lord’s Prayer, the greeting of peace and Communion. Hosts from the tabernacle which were consecrated at a previous Mass are used. At our parish we have a Communion Service at 8 AM in the chapel each day except for Sunday’s and holy days of obligation. Lay people lead the Communion Service.
St. Mary’s Book Group St. Mary’s Book Group provides a ministry within the parish family for those who share a passion for the written word. Our mission is to read and discuss books that inspire a closer, vibrant, living relationship with our faith. We meet the second Tuesday of the month in the evening rotating among participant’s homes. Please think about joining us...if you are interested contact Elaine Young at 541-619-6106 or via email at peyoung2@comcast.net In September we discussed Letters from the Desert by Carlo Carretto, an inspiring book about contemplative prayer and love! Our October discussion was about Reasons to Believe by Scott Hahn, an apologist who provides insight on how to share our faith. In November we will be discussing The Way of Forgiveness by Patrick Brennan. Our book for December is the Miracle Detective by Randall Sullivan. HOLIDAY BAZAAR, NOVEMBER 10 AND 11AT ST.
