Our Mission Statement

We, St. Mary's Parish, are a people responding to Christ's call to conversion, new life and discipleship with a nurturing Community.

We celebrate this new life in Scripture and the Sacraments of the Roman Catholic tradition.

Our Celebration impels and transforms us to be Spirit filled individuals who can reach out and minister to all people challenging and enabling them to build God's Kingdom of justice and holiness.

A shawl story from the Prayer Shawl Corner:

"Come and join me for a cup of coffee" were the results of a phone call to a new, Albany resident recently moved here from California. In getting acquainted it was learned during the bombings in the Middle East that the family was desperately trying to get in touch with a daughter in-law and brother that live in Israel.  The family also have 15 year old granddaughter that was visiting her father in California but was to return home to her mother in Israel after spending a few days in Albany with her grandparents.  Terror filled their thoughts in the request of the granddaughter to return home to Israel to be with her mother.  Feeling the desperation and seeing the need for comfort and protection for her granddaughter the Holy Spirit revealed a recently knitted shawl.  The results were tear-filled. With her shawl wrapped around her all the way to Portland in the car, then on the plane to LA and still having it wrapped around her as her grandmother escorted her to the plane for the long flight (17 hours) to Israel tears filling both of their eyes as they said their goodbyes. Those purple hues of yarn wrapped around the needle with a prayer have flown off to Israel!  Praise be to God!
