In the US, we are using more than 18 million barrels of oil and up to 130 billion gallons of fresh water each year just to create the plastic bottles used for bottled water. Then consider the oil used to transport this unneeded product to market. Men's Group If you are interested in a men’s group at St. Mary’s call Rich Amos 791 2101 / amosrmac.com@mac.com
Parents Our parish nursery is available during the 11 AM Mass for your children who are in kindergarten or younger. Several of you have mentioned that you would like to see something more happening than simply “babysitting”. We are trying some Bible stories and other activities this summer with the children in the nursery. Also, we will soon begin Children’s Liturgy of the Word at the 11 AM Mass each week. This is for children who are pre-K through 2nd grade. We definitely will need some help with this – please call Kathy at 926-1449 ext 303 to volunteer.

Thoughts On Prayer If He who was without sin prayed, how much more ought sinners to pray? -- St. Cyprian
Eucharistic Adoration With transforming mercy, Jesus makes our hearts one with His. Jesus stays in the Eucharist so “He restores morality, nourishes virtues, consoles the afflicted and strengthens the weak. He professes His own example to those who come to Him that all may learn to be like Himself, meek and humble of heart and to seek not their own interests, but those of God.” ….Pope Paul VI, Mysterium Fidei The next scheduled Friday is June 15, from noon – 8:00 PM. A sign-up sheet is at the chapel door for your convenience. Please call Caroline @ 924-9952 or 926-5637 if you can spend an hour in Chapel with Jesus.

St. Mary’s Book Group St. Mary’s Book Group meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. rotating among participant’s homes. In May the group discussed All We Know of Heaven: A Novel. This book is a story of fiction about the first few years of monastic life for a Trappist monk. The book gives one a glimpse into life at a monastery. We learn that one brings “oneself” along when entering a monastery complete with all the challenges! We learn that “acceptance” is an essential way of life when living in a community, be it a monastery or the secular world. The author spent several years as a Trappist monk and is currently a Benedictine monk. In June the group will be discussing Padre Pio and America by Frank M. Rega. If you would like to learn more about the St. Mary’s Book Group or would like to join us, please call Elaine Young at 541-619-6106 or email at peyoung2@comcast.net.

Also know that you do not need to attend any meeting in order to be a part of this wonderful ministry. We have a good supply of yarn for anyone wishing to knit or crochet a shawl for the benefit of furthering this ministry. We also have patterns and lots of helpful hints for creating these shawls.
