Our Mission Statement

We, St. Mary's Parish, are a people responding to Christ's call to conversion, new life and discipleship with a nurturing Community.

We celebrate this new life in Scripture and the Sacraments of the Roman Catholic tradition.

Our Celebration impels and transforms us to be Spirit filled individuals who can reach out and minister to all people challenging and enabling them to build God's Kingdom of justice and holiness.

They are looking for a few Good Men to be a part of this life of work and prayer. If you are between the ages of 16-35 and you feel that you may be called to the priestly or religious life, then you are invited to participate in a Monastic Discernment Retreat. The retreat is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, June 27-29, 2008. Please contact Rev. Joseph Nguyen, OSB, Vocation Director, via email: abbeyvocation@mtangel.edu or call 503-845-3226.

Prayer Shawl MInistry

This June will mark the Prayer Shawl Ministry of St. Mary's 4th year of serving the needs of our community, parish and faith through the creation of the Shawl Ministry.  We take a deep breath realizing  the many shawls that have been created and have caressed the shoulders of  individuals both far and near. Our shawls have traveled across continents to England, Israel, Holland and from border to border in our beloved US...from Canada to Florida, New York to Mexico and many stops in-between. We continue to support the interfaith knitting that supplies Samaritan Albany General with shawls for patients in need. This Easter season we presented each candidate with a shawl for their baptism.  If you would like to join us on this wonderful journey filled with moments that will take your breath away, please join us at our next meeting, Monday, June 9 at 9:00 in the basement of the parish house. Supplies, patter ns, as well as someone to help you learn to knit or crochet is always readily available and the welcome mat is always out. Please remember the Prayer Shawl Ministry in your prayers as we begin knitting and crocheting our way into year #5! For without your continued support this ministry would not prosper and continue to grow spreading the power and comfort of prayers wrapped around someone's shoulders.  If you would like more information about this ministry or know of someone who benefit from receiving a shawl, please contact Carol Hawke at 926-2106 or Pat Jacobson at 938-2327 or the church office.

Spring Cleaning ...  If you have yarns that are not being used or you are ready to put them in a bag for charitable donations...please remember the Prayer Shawl Ministry....WE LOVE YARNS!  ALL COLORS!   ALL SIZES!  ANY AMOUNT!  Donations can be left at the parish house or call Carol Hawke or Pat Jacobson for pick up.
