Only one who is with Him comes to know Him. And only one who has been with Him cannot keep to himself what he has found. Eucharistic adoration is an essential way of being with the Lord – in the Sacred Host. He is present, the true treasure, always waiting for us. Only by adoring this presence do we learn how to receive Him properly. Let us love being with the Lord! There we can speak with Him about everything. We can offer Him our petitions, concerns, troubles, joys, gratitude, disappointments, needs and our aspirations. There we can also constantly ask Him: “Lord, send laborers into your harvest! Help me to be a good worker in Your vineyard ….. Pope Benedict XVI
Prayer This year, our parish’s catechetical (teaching) focus has been on prayer. We’ve discussed the Lord’s Prayer, the Rosary, prayers of intercession, prayers of petition, the Creed, praying with the Bible and the Stations of the Cross.
Our goal has been twofold: one, to expose parishioners to a variety of Catholic forms of prayer, and two: to help people pray better and grow closer to God. Now we’re asking for your thoughts. Our next issue of the Happenings will focus on prayer and we would like to hear your thoughts.
What does prayer mean to you? What are your experiences with prayer? How do you grow in your prayer life? Just jot down a few sentences on your prayer experiences (anonymously or with your name) and we will try to share some of them in our next Happenings.
You can put your thoughts in the collection, email us at: stmarys_albany@comcast.net or bring them to the office. We are interested in hearing from adults and children, families, couples and singles. Thanks for helping us out.
