Earth Day has been observed on April 22 for the past 30 years. In Oregon we began the celebration of Arbor Week this past Monday. WCC this Sunday and Tuesday is focused on caring for God’s creation. Consider attending the most convenient session.
Women’s Tea Is cancelled for this year due to lack of reservations. We will offer it again next spring. Hope that you will all be able to join us then.
.Habitat New Builds are ready to go. St. Mary’s Habitat will begin volunteer activities on Saturday, May 3; and Saturday, June 7. We begin at 8:00 AM and usually go until around 3 PM.. Call Francey or John at 541-791-3725 to volunteer today! The building site is on Howard which is off Marion and Queen in Albany.
Nursery Workers We are looking for people who are 21 or older to work in our parish nursery. This would mean about 1 ½ hours on Sunday during the 11 AM Mass. It is a paid position. Applicants should have experience working with young children, the ability to work well with parents, and must pass a background check as well as complete necessary child abuse training. Please stop by the parish office to pick up an application. Thank you!
St. Mary’s School is looking for adult volunteers willing to instruct small groups of students in “elective” classes this spring. The classes meet three times each, either April 24, May 1, and May 8 or May 15, May 22, and May 29. The classes are on Thursdays, 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Teachers are present to supervise. Suggestions for classes include sewing, photography, fly-tying, Spanish language, music appreciation, pottery, hairstyling, weather, silk-screening, knitting, electric circuits, and small appliance repair. In fact, whatever your specialty might be the school can accommodate you! Please contact Gail Armstrong or Ed Curtin, middle school teachers, by April 16 if you can help: 928-7474. Thank you!
Reminder The first Sunday of each month is “FISH” Sunday. Please bring non-perishable food items, toilet paper, soap, paper towels or diapers. These will be given to FISH, an emergency help organization in Albany and distributed in food boxes for the needy.
Child Safety A video presentation for adults – especially parents! Sunday, May 4 at 9:50 in the Gathering Space Note: this presentation is not intended for children or youth. We encourage all adults, especially parents to attend, but ask you to make other arrangements for your children. It is a Religious Ed Sunday and regular classes will be happening at that time.
Recycling St. Mary’s School is expanding our recycling efforts to include used cell phones and ink jet cartridges. A collection bin has been placed under the table near the school bulletin board. Please help us be good stewards of our Earth.
