Our Mission Statement

We, St. Mary's Parish, are a people responding to Christ's call to conversion, new life and discipleship with a nurturing Community.

Eucharistic  Adoration

Of the Blessed Sacrament is scheduled every  Friday, in Lent from noon till 6 PM in the chapel. Adoration ends on March 30. There will be no exposition on Good Friday, April 6. A sign-up sheet has been placed at the chapel door for your convenience. Come and pray with me, our Lord asked His apostles and now he’s asking us, can’t you pray with me for just one hour? At St. Mary’s, we have the privilege of being able to sit with the Lord. This is a great blessing to those who come to adoration; to their families and friends, to our community and to our church. We need your help. Can you take time to come and sit and pray with the Lord for an hour?

Ash  Wednesday

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent. Masses on Ash Weds. are at 9 AM and 7:30 PM (Spanish Mass at 6:00 PM). Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting (only 3 meals and no food in between meals), and abstinence (no meat).

Please plan to attend Mass on this day as we continue our Journey to Our Father’s House.

 

Mardi  Gras

Our parish will be hosting a Mardi Gras celebration as a benefit for St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen. There will be live music, Mardi Gras crafts and a delicious meal. The tickets are $5/adults and $3/ children. (Donations are gratefully accepted). Please help support our Soup Kitchen and have a great time. Sunday, Feb. 18 from noon – 1:30 in the Gathering Space.

A Retreat for Needleworkers with the Scriptures and The Rule of St. Benedict. We will reflect on our beautiful and creative work and how God works through us.

Blanchet  Founders  Day

Will hold its ninth annual Founders Day Celebration on Thurs. Feb. 22nd @ 7 PM in its Wiegand Arts Center. The community is invited and there is no charge for the event. Support  Group  to  Manage  Chronic Pain:

This is a weekly support group for chronic pain management utilizing the spiritual practices of centering prayer and mindfulness. Anticipated outcomes include deepening spiritual control of pain. Every Tuesday beginning Feb. 6 and ending March 27 from 2-3:30 PM. Cost is $20.00 per session. To register call the Franciscan Spiritual Center at 503-794-8542.

 

Unemployment  Retreat:  Finding  Hope

Starting on February 21st and continuing through the 22nd, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, the Franciscan Spiritual Center is offering a two day retreat. There is a fee of $25.00 total for both days (includes lunch, and seated massage.) Spouses are welcome to attend. For details call 503-794-8542.

Divorce  Care

For persons who are divorced or divorcing meets on Tuesdays at 7 PM in the Parish House basement. This is a video series/ discussion group. Please spread the word to anyone you know who is divorced or divorcing. Thanks!

St.  Mary’s  - Corvallis

All are welcome to a live performance of the Passion in drama and music on Friday, Feb. 23rd @ 7 PM. This performance is regularly seen on EWTN and other Christian channels and features Dave Barry and Eric Genuis. We are located at 501 NW 25th St.

Want  to  Do  Something  Positive  this Lent?  Want  To  Grow  Closer To  God?

Consider joining one of our parish’s “Circles of Prayer” groups. There are several options of time during the week. Circle of Prayer is somewhat similar to Renew or Disciples in Mission or Ambassadors for Christ – groups which we have done at St. Mary’s in past years. You can sign up on the form enclosed in today’s bulletin or in the Gathering Space. This is a way to make this Lenten season more meaningful. The groups will meet once a week for each of the five weeks of Lent. Groups will meet for 1 – 1 ½ hours in the chapel.

 

Grief  Recovery  Retreat

Here grieving participants will find a safe place to deal with the feelings that may follow a significant loss. Beginning Experience is an ecumenical renewal retreat weekend for widowed, permanently separated and divorced. The weekend consists of presentations by team members, periods for private personal reflection and small group dialogues.

 

Where: The griffin Center, Milwaukie, Ore.

Date: March 9 – 11

$175 (partial scholarships available) Includes:

Resource material, meals and 2 nights lodging
