Our Mission Statement

We, St. Mary's Parish, are a people responding to Christ's call to conversion, new life and discipleship with a nurturing Community.

We celebrate this new life in Scripture and the Sacraments of the Roman Catholic tradition.

Our Celebration impels and transforms us to be Spirit filled individuals who can reach out and minister to all people challenging and enabling them to build God's Kingdom of justice and holiness.

Care  For  Creation

A family of 4 uses 1460 plastic bags each year which amounts to 88.5 billion bags in the US each year.  This many bags require 12 million barrels of oil to manufacture.  Less than 1% of the bags are recycled.  They can take 1000 years to decompose in a landfill.  Consider bringing reusable cloth bags when you shop.

Reminder

The first Sunday of each month is “FISH” Sunday. Please bring non-perishable food items, toilet paper, soap, paper towels or diapers. These will be given to FISH, an emergency help organization in Albany and distributed in food boxes for the needy.

Our Soup Kitchen

Celebrates 25 years of service this month.  We will have a spaghetti dinner to benefit the Soup Kitchen on Sunday, Feb. 10. Please join us and invite your neighbors. Also, please continue to pray for the Soup Kitchen and other helping agencies in our community.

Retrouvaille -- A Lifeline for Hurting Marriages

Is your marriage or that of a relative or friend heading for divorce?  Do you know how to save that marriage? Or do you feel helpless?  Retrouvaille is a Catholic program designed to help troubled marriages regain their health. The program is highly successful in saving hurting marriages, even bringing reconciliation to couples who have already separated or divorced.  Retrouvaille is similar to Marriage Encounter, but with one important difference. The leaders are couples whose own marriages once nearly failed. They inspire couples in hurting marriages to try new ways to love each other.  The next Retrouvaille weekend is February 15-17, 2008 at Mt. Angel Retreat House, Mt. Angel, Oregon. For information, call 503-285-2342 or visit www.helpourmarriage.org. Couples of all faiths are welcome and no one is turned away due to financial difficulties.

Pray One! Knit One!

The next meeting for the Prayer Shawl Ministry will be February 11 at 9:00am in the basement of the parish house. If you have an interest in learning to knit or crochet and would like to share in this ministry of love and prayer, you are welcome to join us. We have lots of supplies to help you get started in learning the joy of knitting or crocheting. We also have yarns and lots of patterns to begin you on a journey that will fill your heart with a joy that keeps coming back again and again. Come and share a cup of coffee, tea and some time for reflection in an environment of friendship and 'girl talk'! We hope to see you there!
