Our Mission Statement

We, St. Mary's Parish, are a people responding to Christ's call to conversion, new life and discipleship with a nurturing Community.

We celebrate this new life in Scripture and the Sacraments of the Roman Catholic tradition.

Our Celebration impels and transforms us to be Spirit filled individuals who can reach out and minister to all people challenging and enabling them to build God's Kingdom of justice and holiness.

Hearing  Aide  Loop

Our parish has recently installed a new loop to assist those of you who are hard of hearing. Just switch the “t” switch on your hearing aide to on. We are interested in your feedback as to how well our loop is working. Call the office (926-1449 ext 303) or email: stmarys_albany@comcast.net. Also, if you have a digital hearing aide, just keep changing until you find the right reception – it should work.

Eucharistic  Adoration

Of the Blessed Sacrament is scheduled for Friday, February 2nd  from noon till 6 PM in the chapel. A sign-up sheet has been placed at the chapel door for your convenience. Come and pray with me, our Lord asked His apostles and now he’s asking us, can’t you pray with me for just one hour? At St. Mary’s, we have the privilege of being able to sit with the Lord. This is a great  blessing to those who come to adoration; to their families and friends, to our community and to our church. We need your help. Can you take time to come and sit and pray with the Lord for an hour?

Catholic  Schools  Week

Our school will celebrate Catholic Schools Week from January 29 - February 2, 2007. A kazoo marching band, a magician, and a park cleanup project will be major highlights of Catholic Schools Week celebrated by our students. Students in the upper grades will pick up storm debris in Takena Park after hiking a mile to get to the city site. Younger students will make elaborate Valentines for home-bound members of the Albany community. To spread the good news of the school, students will parade to downtown Albany Wednesday, January 31, in a multi-age kazoo band, playing, appropriately, “When the Saints Come Marching In,” among other tunes. They also will  carry hand-made pinwheels bearing the words of a prayer. A special Mass, with Gospel reflections and prayers reminding participants of the importance of Catholic education, will be offered on Thursday, February 1, of Catholic Schools Week.

Prayer  Shawl  Ministry

Meetings are open to everyone. If you would like to learn the art of knitting or crocheting there is someone available to help you.  There is no obligation to this ministry by coming to the meeting to learn these skills.  We have yarns and needles available for you to use and you need not purchase any thing to start the learning process.  Come and join us at anytime. We welcome eagerness and a willing spirit to learn these skills that have been passed down from generation to generation. For more information, please call Carol Hawke @ 926-2106 or Pat Jacobson @ 928-2327. Our next meeting will be published in this bulletin soon.

Please…..

If you have something that you would like in the bulletin, we ask that you submit it on disk or via email to the parish office no later than 8 AM on the Monday preceding the Sunday that you want the announcement to run. Announcements will be put in the bulletin based on suitability and available space. Thank you very much!!! You can send the email to: kathy_reilly@comcast.net.
