St, Mary’s School This weekend marks the beginning of national Catholic Schools Week 2008! To celebrate their high level of excellence and achievement in faith-based education, the students and teachers of St. Mary’s School have organized their Catholic Schools Week celebration into educational, reflective and fun activities centered on the theme of “Catholic Schools Light the Way.” At this weekend’s Masses, students are presenting thank you cards they have made in appreciation for the financial and volunteer support the school receives throughout the year from its parish community. After having practiced for several weeks, each class will present a poem, song or skit reflecting the theme of Catholic Schools Week and the parish family is invited to attend the performances held in St. Mary’s Church on Thursday, January 31 from 1:45 – 2:45 pm. A second collection for St Mary's School will take place Jan. 26 & 27. Please consider a donation to help further Catholic Education for our children.

Prayer Shawl Ministry The next meeting of the Prayer Shawl Ministry will be on Monday, January 28 at 9:00a.m. - 11:00a.m. in the basement of the parish house. A no-host lunch outing will follow this meeting. Anyone interested in learning how to knit or crochet and would like some "one-on-one" instruction please come and join us for a cup of coffee, tea and the beginnings of a new and adventurous journey into the mystery of the shawl ministry. We call it the "mystery" because it is a journey that continues to find us speechless at the stories we share revolving around the 'journey' these shawls eventually take when they leave our hands. Come and see what this ministry is about and the wonderful experiences that we share. We have supplies on hand for beginners and there is always someone willing to begin you on this path of amazement. If you would like to know more about this ministry or just would like to acquire a prayer shawl for someone, contact Carol Hawke at 926-2106 or Pat Jacobson at 928-2327.

These organizations provide homes for teenage mothers as an alternative to abortion. There is no cost to attend the tea; donations of baby items and cash are welcomed. Look for raffle tickets on sale coming soon.
