Reminder The first Sunday of each month is “FISH” Sunday. Please bring non-perishable food items, toilet paper, soap, paper towels or diapers. These will be given to FISH, an emergency help organization in Albany and distributed in food boxes for the needy.

Adult Confirmation If you are an adult Catholic (older than high school) who has never been confirmed, you might want to consider the adult confirmation preparation which begins in January. The sessions will be on Sunday mornings from 9:45 – 10:45 AM. The first session will be on Sunday, January 20. We will meet in the parish library – just come up the back stairs or the elevator. We will pass out a calendar at the first session and talk about requirements for the program. Hope you can join us!
Baptism for children If your child is age kindergarten or less, parents should attend the infant baptism preparation session. The next session will be Saturday, January 26 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM in the Gathering Space. You must pre-register by calling the office (926-1449) or emailing: stmarys_albany@comcast.net. The cost of the session is $10, payable at the class. If your child is in first grade or older and has not baptized, they should come to the Sunday morning classes beginning this January. Classes will be held in the 7th grade classroom of the school (next to the nursery). They will be from 9:40 – 10:45 AM. The first session is Sunday, Jan. 20. Whole Community Catechesis Sunday, January 13 Noon – 2 PM Everyone is invited to join us for a special Whole Community (WCC) session on Sunday, Jan. 13. This is the feast day of the baptism of the Lord. What a great day for us to learn more about our Catholic Social Teaching and our call to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. As we reflect on the baptism of the Lord, we will also reflect on our own baptisms and the way of justice. Lunch will be served ($2 suggested donation). There will be a repeat session Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 5:30 PM.
Religious Ed Session Sunday, January 27 9:40 – 10:45 AM Parents, please help your children remember their books and bags. Also, please help your children to get caught up on all their lessons. Thanks!

Interested in Becoming Catholic? If you are an adult who is not baptized, or baptized in another Christian tradition, and would like to join the Catholic Church, please come to the RCI sessions on Sunday mornings from 9:40 – 10:45 AM. Estate Sale January 18th and 19th Our church received an estate donation of a house and furnishings. We will be holding an estate sale: January 18th, Friday 10am-6pm January 19th, Saturday 9am-4pm. The house is full of antiques, vintage and mid-century furniture and collectibles. The address is 724 Lyon St. Parking will be on 8th Street. Only 25 people will be allowed in the house at a time. Numbers to enter will be handed out at 10am on Friday. Cash only. We will need volunteers to cashier, sit in each room to monitor buyers and some guys to move large items that sell. Roe v. Wade Memorial Rallies Reaching Oregon with the message of life! Sunday, January 20, 2008 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Oregon State Capitol Salem, Oregon Sponsored by Oregon Right to Life On January 22, 1973, the United States Supreme Court handed down the Roe v. Wade decision which has resulted in the deaths of over 45 million unborn children. This year's rallies commemorate the thirty-fifth anniversary of that fateful decision. Speakers include Archbishop Vlazny.
Our Soup Kitchen Celebrates 25 years of service this month. We will have a spaghetti dinner to benefit the Soup Kitchen on Sunday, Feb. 10. Please join us and invite your neighbors. Also, please continue to pray for the Soup Kitchen and other helping agencies in our community.
